Sage Instant Accounts is very slow when running Trend Worry Free Business Security
ByHad a situation with a customer who is running Sage Instant Accounts version 15 being extremly slow to respond after the installation of Trend Worry Free Business Security.
The problem is most noticiable when switching between modules within Sage, which was taking around 20 seconds.
Adding all the recommend exclusions did not make any difference, but using the Trend Micro Performance Tuning tool fixed the problem instantly.
The tool can be downloaded from:
Simply add “SBDDesktop.exe” to the exception list and see if Sage runs at normal speed.
If the speed of Sage goes back to normal speed you must now add an exception to behavior monitoring within the WFBS dashboard:
Go into Security settings and then behavior monitoring and and then add the full path to SDBDesktop.exe to the exception list, in this case the path was:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sage SBD\SBDDesktop.exe

I’ve been having real performance issues with Sage Accounts 2011, running far too slow to be useable on what is otherwise a very powerful CAD based machine. I established that it was Trend WFBS Advanced causing the problem and contacted Trend who were fairly helpful and advised adding several exclusions to the live scan which helped a little but Sage still kept chugging along. I was about to resort to running with Trend Micro and disconnecting from the internet whilst using Sage but tried adding the SBDDesktop.exe to the behaviour exclusion list as you suggest and (touch wood) it seems to be working ok for now.
Thanks for the tip, shame Trend didn’t suggest this, it would have saved me quite a bit of time!

I have had this problem for weeks since upgrading to v17 from one that worked without issue for years. Sage seem not to have a clue about how to resolve these anti virus conflicts.
This addition to the exception list goes some way as I am now able to switch between departments without the delay however the problem persists with slow/freezing reporting.
I was suggested this blog through my cousin. I’m now not certain whether or not this submit is written by him as no one else recognise such distinctive approximately my difficulty. You are incredible! Thanks!
